If you have followed our Image Manager Tutorial, you will find this tutorial to be very similar. The Image Manager is actually a subset of the File Manager. The File Manager is capable of uploading all kinds of files. This tutorial will demonstrate how to upload multimedia files like Flash and QuickTime movies or web-friendly documents like Adobe pdf. Once these files have been uploaded to the File Manager, you can incorporate them into your web pages. We will learn to do that in the next tutorial.
To begin, you'll need to login to the Administrative Console. Directions for this procedure are found in the first tutorial.
- 1. From the "Content" menu dropdown menu, select "File Manager".
- 2. Click on the "Upload files" tab.
- 3. Click the "Browse" button to locate files on your computer. Repeat using the other the other blank fields if you want to upload multiple files at a time. You can also upload compressed (.zip and .tgz) files. If you upload compressed files, click the checkbox next to the "Browse" button.
- 4. Use the dialog box to search for mulitmedia files. If you are uncertain about what file types you can upload, consult with your developer. Be aware of file size: trying to upload a file that is too large can lead to errors.
- 5. When you are finished, click "OK" to upload the file(s).
- 6. Your file has been uploaded and is displayed in the file list.
The next tutorial will show you how to link to documents and multimedia files to a web page.
