Creating an image link
Occasionally, you'll want to link to other pages on your site or pages on other sites. Links are also used to connect to multimedia files, like streaming video or for making files available for download.
Creating links within our CMS is very simple. To begin, you'll need to login to the Administrative Console. Directions for this process are found in the first tutorial.
- 1. From the main screen, click the "Pages" link.
- 2. Select the page you want to edit by clicking on the link or the "edit" icon.
- 3. Within the HTML editor, select the text that you want to turn into a link by dragging your mouse over it.
- 4. Click on the "link" icon in the toolbar. The icon looks like a chain link.
- 5. When the dialog box opens, type in the full URL of the page or file you want to link to. (A full URL starts with http://). You can always copy/paste a desired URL from your web browser. Leave the Target dropdown menu in the default state, or choose "Open in new window (_blank)" to cause the linked page to open in a new window. Click "Insert" to apply your settings.
- 6. Your linked text appears as blue underlined text in the editor. It will look different on the actual site due contingent on your site design. To remove a link, place your cursor on the link and click the "Unlink" icon in the toolbar. ("Unlink is to the right of the "Link" icon.)
- 7. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking "Submit" or "Apply". Click on the "View" icon to see the real time changes made to your web page.
- 8. The visual look of your link has taken on the characteristics chosen by your web designer to compliment your overall site design. Test your link by clicking on it.
